A summer vacation
at the farm Herzleierhof !
Hiking, relaxing & unwinding in South Tyrol,
and exploring Rodenegg Castle
Plenty of sunshine with pleasantly mild temperatures – that’s what summer looks like in South Tyrol at 1,000 metres above sea level. Our centuries-old farm Herzleierhof is nestled among lush green mountain meadows and offers you a fantastic panoramic view from the Eisacktal to the striking peaks of the Weisshorn and Mount Schlern. On our sunbathing lawn, you will only hear the gentle humming of the bees, while you finally find time for your favourite book or plan your next hiking excursion.
Hiking holidays in Rodeneck
Fabulous tours between
the Zillertal Alps and the Dolomites
At the farm Herzleierhof you will spend your active holiday in South Tyrol right next to the Spisser Höhenweg (Altitude Trail) and the family-friendly adventure trail “Bienenweg” (Bee Trail). The Jägersteig (Hunter’s Path) also runs right past your front door and continues through the Rienz Gorge.
Furthermore, the Rodenecker Alm – one of the most beautiful hiking areas in South Tyrol – is waiting for you. On this gigantic alpine plateau (20 square kilometres) you will be surrounded by a marvellous mountain panorama, high moors, picturesque mountain lakes, as well as lush and fragrant meadows. The wonderful long-distance hiking trail Dolorama starts from the nearby car park Zumis and leads in four stages from the Rodenecker Alm to Val Gardena.
During a leisurely hike in South Tyrol, you will be accompanied by the anticipation of a hearty snack or a steaming Kaiserschmarren (traditional pancakes) in the alpine lodges Starkenfeldhütte or Rastnerhütte. If you are an experienced mountaineer, you may prefer to reward yourself with the 360° panoramic view from our 2,000-metre peaks such as the Astjoch or the Seefeldspitze.
Even more activities
for your farm holiday in the Eisacktal
Once upon a time, the farm Herzleierhof was part of a castle. Today, Rodenegg Castle is our direct neighbour. Partly still inhabited, the massive fortification houses an interesting museum. Its centrepiece is the impressive murals of the Iwein Cycle. The legend of the Lauterfresser, who was put on witch trial in the 17th century, promises goosebumps. For even more exciting details, it’s best to take part in one of the popular guided castle tours.
On a trip to the serene alpine town of Bruneck , you will stroll through the picturesque medieval old town with its narrow alleys. At Bruneck Castle you may also visit the Messner Mountain Museum Ripa.
If you board the cable car Meransen in Mühlbach, just 10 minutes you may reach the idyllic mountain village of Meransen with its Romanesque Church of St. James. On the local mountain of Meransen, the 2,510-metre Mount Gitschberg, you may enjoy an incredible view of more than 500 Dolomite peaks during your hiking holiday in the Eisacktal.
