Our animals then enjoy the warmth of the stable and in your cosy holiday apartment you and your loved ones may cuddle, read, or play to your heart’s content. After exciting adventures in the sun-kissed winter wonderland, you’ll come “home” with red cheeks and relax with a steaming cup of tea. Put your feet in thick woollen socks and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the world – together with your partner or with the entire family.
And the next day back skiing on the perfectly groomed slopes in the nearby family ski area Gitschberg Jochtal! Or maybe you prefer to breathe in the clear winter air and the magic of the snow-covered landscape while cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or even on a ski tour?

It’s snowing fun on the slopes

Only about 20 minutes by car and you reach the cable car Jochtal in Vals or the Gitschberg-Nesselbahn in Meransen. And you’re right in the heart of the largest ski area in the Eisacktal. At 1,307 to 2,510 metres above sea level, the ski area Gitschberg Jochtal offers family-friendly skiing fun on 55 kilometres of slopes. On 25 slopes, the powder snow inspires expert skiers, leisure skiers as well as beginners. The kids may learn their first turns in three children’s parks or in one of the friendly ski schools.
Sunny skiing on the southern slopes of the Pfunders Mountains is great fun for the entire family – including a delicious break in an alpine hut.
There are another 100 kilometres of fun on the slopes for all skill levels during your winter holiday in Rodeneck in the ski area Kronplatz near Bruneck, just 25 kilometres away.
Leave your tracks in the snow…
…on cross-country skis or
with a toboggan
When the winter sun warms your face, and you hear nothing but the crunch of the snow under your boots – then you are probably on the idyllic Rodenecker Alm. Starting from the car park Zumis, you may embark on great adventures on winter hiking itineraries, on the 15-kilometre cross-country ski trail or on a ski tour across the snow-covered alpine meadows around the Astjoch. The perfect counterpart to the clear winter air is the comfort of the alpine lodges Roner Alm or Starkenfeldhütte, where even in winter you may enjoy typical South Tyrolean alpine delicacies such as a hearty snack or a delicious Kaiserschmarren (Tyrolean Pancakes).
If you prefer to experience your winter away from the ski slopes, you will love the four natural toboggan runs in the ski area Gitschberg Jochtal.
Christmas splendour
for your winter holiday in South Tyrol
From the end of November until the New Year, the seductive scent of mulled wine and alpine Christmas vibes waft over the Christmas market in Bruneck. Between the small wooden stalls in the centre of the old town, cosy alpine charm surrounds you. And with the Living Nativity Scene or the St. Nicholas Parade, a truly special entertaining programme awaits you.
Just as marvellous is the traditional Brixen Christmas market on the cathedral square. Year after year, even the locals look forward to the festively decorated old town and the light show in the Hofburg in Brixen.
